Busting Chiro Myths

There's a lot of misinformation out in the world about chiropractic. Rooted often in worry & fear, I want to set you at ease on some of the most common myths I hear.

How much does a chiropractor cost Affordable Chiropractor St Louis Health Insurance

1. MYTH: Chiropractic is Expensive

The truth is, most chiropractic services are covered by your health insurance! I am in network with Anthem, Blue Cross, United Healthcare, Cigna, Healthlink, and Medicare just to name a few. If you have a HSA (Health Savings Account) or FSA (Flex Spending Account), typically in the form of a debit card to pay for health-related expenses, you can use it in the office for services and supplements.

In the case that you are not covered under your insurance plan, or you are underinsured/not insured, a typical appointment would usually be around $40 out of pocket. That's it!

2. MYTH: Chiropractic is Painful

I pride myself in being very gentle! For most people there is no discomfort at all, let alone actual pain. Most of my patients find the experience relaxing and feel better when they leave the office than they did upon entering. The therapies we use are designed to reduce inflammation and muscle spasm so they relieve pain in real time. We also offer low force adjustment using a specialized instrument for those who need or prefer it.

3. MYTH: If You Go Once, You'll Have To Go Forever

Your doctor won’t expect you to come for continuous care without symptoms. Generally, if you come in with pain, once you’ve been treated for your initial complaint, you’ll be scheduled for a few more appointments to make sure proper motion is being maintained and you will be instructed how to optimize your spinal health, then it will be recommended you return occasionally to be checked just like you would go to the dentist to get checked for tartar buildup and cavities. Of course, many people still choose to see their chiropractor weekly or monthly for wellness or maintenance care. My objective with any patient is to first relieve and eliminate your pain, but more importantly to help you achieve a stronger body and spine to minimize the chance of future flare ups.
